Sir Michael Berlinger Vandalized Statue Interview

Heritage is pleased to report that one of our recent projects has been featured on both WMBD News and the Peoria Journal Star. An antique marble statue at the historic Springdale Cemetery had been vandalized. The outstretched hand of Jesus giving His Sermon on the Mount had been taken and, to date, has not been found. The Springdale Historic Preservation Foundation reached out to Heritage Restoration to repair the statue and carve a new hand.

Anthony Berlinger Piano

Project Overview

Heritage was tasked to restore an eighty-year-old Baldwin Acrosonic piano. This vintage instrument had become scratched and discolored after three generations of consecutive use. The piano was disassembled to allow access to the individual components. The original finish was stripped away, exposing the wood grain beneath. The cleaned piano surfaces received seven layers of stain and finish to create achieve a rich texture and shine. After a final tuning the piano was fully restored.

Repairing the Hand of a Statue

Project Overview

Springdale Cemetery, in Peoria, Illinois, is host to many fine, vintage statues. Over time, a statue of Jesus during the Sermon on the Mount, lost its outstretched right hand. The Springdale Historic Preservation Foundation contracted Heritage Restoration to recreate the missing hand and finish it in such a way that the hand would blend with the 70 year old exterior of the original statue.

Cleaning Lead Came

Project Overview

Heritage’s staff recently completed the restoration of several stained glass panels for a local church. These pieces had become worn and discolored with age. Using our new stained glass repair studio, the glass was carefully disassembled, cleaned, and put back together with fresh lead. The restored stained glass were placed into four custom-built light boxes for indoor use. Once the assembly was complete, we delivered and installed the light boxes at our client’s location.

Saint Anthony of Padua Altar

Project Overview

Heritage Restoration and Design was contracted to provide interior furnishings to the new St. Anthony of Padua church among the Centennial Hills in Las Vegas, Nevada. After waiting ten years with a rapidly growing parish community, they were finally able to build. Due to the community’s large size and small budget, the parish was unable to build both a church and pastoral center, so the new building was to be utilized for both purposes. Heritage came up with innovative techniques to create a space which could be used interchangeably as both a place of worship and a parish hall. This was accomplished by creating furnishings which both served traditional liturgical purposes but could also be easily stored as needed.
